St. Mary's Church- Bell Tower & Water Proofing renovation work.
  INTRODUCTION
St.Mary's Church is an imposing landmark and a magnificent sight on Sarojini Devi Road,
Secunderabad. It was popularly known as St. Mary's Cathedral while it was the principle Church of
  the vicariate of Hyderabad.
From 1500 till 1832 the vicariate of Hyderabad had small pockets of Christians who were visited at
regular intervals by missionaries of the Theatine order of the Carmelite fathers. A significant and
concerted effect at evangelization begun in 1838 when Fr.Daniel Murphy, an Irish by birth, opted to
work in Hyderabad. The Irish regiment of the British Army compromised of Catholics while the other
  regiments were mostly Anglicans.
It was commissioned in 1840 and against many odds, both financial and personal, the edifice was
completed and blessed in 1850. At that time it was the largest Church in the Kingdom of the Nizams

PRESENT CONDITION OF THE EDIFICE
For the last 158 years the Church has enjoyed a glorious past. But over the years the edifice has been subjected to severe wear &
tear. Even a cursory glance at the structure is enough to say that urgent repairs have to be carried out so that the pristine beauty of
the Church is maintained.
